Why did you choose this field and what do you find particularly rewarding about your work?

I chose this field because my family and children are my most precious gifts. I couldn’t imagine life without being able to have children. So to have the opportunity to help people realize their own goal of having children is just a wonderful way to spend your time. This work is incredibly gratifying.

What are your special areas of interest and why do they interest you?

Working in infertility and helping people to become pregnant and have babies is an incredible opportunity to put our training to practical use. For me, that feedback—of seeing a couple with a child that they wouldn’t have without that intervention -- is incredibly rewarding. Being part of the creation of life is one of those experiences that just blow you away. Watching the process: egg retrieval to fertilization to embryo development, is always something special to participate in. You can never get tired of watching the earliest development of life. The field is so dynamic that the things we do now routinely were unimaginable just a short time ago.

Can you give me an example?

Pregnancy success rates are now more than double what they were about 15 years ago. Thinking about what might be coming in the future is just very, very exciting.

Tell me about your philosophy of care.

I am patient centered. It is so important never to lose sight of the patient amidst all the high tech gadgetry. Listening to patient concerns and supporting them through this process is very important. Not everyone responds the same way, so I’ve learned over the years that individualizing treatment plans, using the patient’s past experience as a guide is important.

Why did you choose to come to GIVF?

I wanted to focus on the work that I love the best and that is patient care. GIVF just has so many resources to help people-- there is almost nothing we can’t take care of here in-house. We not only have an extraordinary IVF program, we offer donor egg, donor sperm, PGD, MicroSort® and genetics all under one roof. And my colleagues are incredible group of very experienced professionals.

What do you hope to accomplish in your work at GIVF?

I want to provide outstanding medical care and help as many patients as I can accomplish their goal of having a baby.
